FyreTV BoXXX Review – A Media Player For Streaming Adult Content
FyreTV BoXXX – Inside the Box
Our BoXXX came shipped in a very nondescript cardboard box. In fact, it sat around for a day because it looked like some books we had purchased from Amazon.com for the Legit Reviews bunker. We can see how FyreTV customers would want some discretion when sending for ‘Adult’ content to be sent to their house. If you dont want your nosey neighbor to see what was left on your porch, FyreTV keeps things low profile.
Besides the FyreTV BoXXX, you will find an HDMI cable, Composite video cables, a short Ethernet, AC power adaptor, a quick-start guide and the BoXXX remote control.
The remote that ships with the FyreTV BoXXX has got to be one of the smallest remotes we have ever seen used in a set-top media box. Even with 14 buttons, the BoXXX remote has everything you need in a remote (FF, RW, back, forward, direction/navigation, etc.). The feedback from the remote is a bit “squishy”, but it seems to get the job done. Hopefully, the next generation High Definition BoXXX will have a better remote shipped with the unit.
Inside the FyreTV BoXXX we see a typical media streamer layout. FyreTV tells us that the BoXXX is based on a Broadcom 7504 processor which is interesting for this is the only media player we have encountered that uses this chipset. It will be interesting to see what chipset FyreTV uses for the next-generation media player.
The BoXXX can support up to 100Gbps Ethernet as well as HDMI 1.3. Even if you don’t have a latest-generation television set, you can plug the BoXXX into a standard-definition monitor or television.
Even though the BoXXX has a fairly large heatsink covering the CPU, we didn’t really notice any amount of heat buildup during our testing.
