Foxconn Still Has Employees Committing Suicide in 2011
Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), on January 13, confirmed that a female employee at its plants in Shenzhen, China fell to her death on January 7, while a large conflict recently broke out at the company’s plant in Chengdu causing injures to two employees. We hope 2011 will be a better year at Foxconn as in 2010 dozens of employees committed suicide on company property.
Foxconn said it has already paid its condolences to the female employee’s family and will provide assistance. As for the employee conflict, Foxconn pointed out that the incident was not related to work and the plants are currently operating normally. Vendors that have experience managing IT plants in China pointed out that the atmosphere brought on by the Lunar New Year holidays can easily trigger employees’ emotions
