Experts are talking about 4G-based services more often these days, but don’t get your hopes up too quickly as it is not expected to become reality before 2010. Reading about 100 megabit per second downloads is good news though.

Fourth generation (4G) refers to a next-generation wireless access technology that promises an ultra high-speed mobile connection to the Internet for folks on the move. The velocity of 4G is expected to reach 100 megabits per second (Mbps) on the road, more than 100 times faster than today?s mobile Internet, and 1Gbps at a standstill. The compelling 4G-based services are projected to come into daily life around 2010. Samsung Electronics, the world?s third-largest cell phone maker, holds the 4G Forum annually to discuss the vision and strategy of the futuristic platform.
