Fortnite to get Input-Based Matchmarking
Epic Games doesn’t want console gamers using a gamepad playing against gamers using a mouse and keyboard. The mouse and keyboard are viewed as a competitive edge by most gamers when compared to playing Fortnite using a gamepad. As such, Epic Games has announced that it will have matchmaking services that pit mouse and keyboard gamers only against other mouse and keyboard gamers.
It’s not exactly clear if this means console gamers playing with a mouse and keyboard will be playing against PC gamers. Something that gamers should be aware of is if you are playing in a party and one of the people in that party are using a mouse and keyboard, the entire party will be matched with mouse and keyboard competition.
That means you could end up pitted against the PC master race with your PS4 and DualShock if one of your party has a mouse and keyboard connected to their PS4. Xbox gamers won’t have to worry much about that issue since there is no official mouse and keyboard support.
Its not entirely clear when these new rules will go into effect. Epic also noted that it hopes to roll out the ability to completely customize your gamepad buttons later this year.
