Final Fantasy Franchise Turns 30, Doesn’t Understand Final
The very first Final Fantasy title launched back on December 18, 1987. The game landed on the Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicon console. The original “Final Fantasy” was supposed to be the last video game from Hironobu Sakaguchi. As things go when they make a lot of money, there were many sequels.
Sequels have been pouring out onto multiple consoles for the last three decades and have also landed on mobile devices. To celebrate the game’s 30th birthday, Square Enix is putting out a bunch of commemorative items with shirts, discounted games, pens, plush toys, and other items that have been available all year reports Engadget.
If you are a fan of the franchise you will want to check out the video below called the Timeless Legacy trailer. It’s interesting that a game that has Final in its name has been anything but.
Square Enix alone has released 14 main Final Fantasy titles along with even more spin-off games and crossover titles. The games have RPG mechanics and a group of heroes that fight evil.
