Fat’s ‘master switch’ found

New hope for those fighting the battle of the bulge with their waistline. The fat “master switch” has been located which could lead to gene therapy to alleviate obesity and linked health concerns like diabetes and heart disease. The bad news is, this is probably a ways off, especially awaiting federal approvals but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Scientists have found that a gene linked to diabetes and cholesterol is a “master switch” that controls other genes found in fat in the body, and say it should help in the search for treatments for obesity-related diseases.
