Far Cry 3 Specs Revealed: Surprisingly Modest!

Ubisoft’s much-anticipated Far Cry 3 is due for release on November 30, so one of the things that gamers are anxious to know about it are the specifications required of their PCs to enjoy a decent experience – or in other words, high graphical details at smooth frame rates.

Now, Ubisoft have revealed the official specs required to run the game, which suggest that it should run well even with midrange to upper midrange hardware. The recommended specs are an Intel Core i3-530 or AMD Phenom II X2 565 or better, 6GB RAM (this actually seems quite a lot) and a 1GB DirectX 11 graphics card. Interestingly, while Ubisoft list the supported graphics cards, which go all the way back to the NVIDIA 8800 GTX and AMD HD 2900, they don’t specify specific models of card as part of their specs. However, it goes without saying that a fairly powerful card like a GTX 670 or HD 7950 will definitely be required, since they will be rendering in demanding DirectX 11 for optimum visuals, even if the CPU requirements are relatively modest.

The minimum CPU power required is a 2.66GHz Intel Core2 Duo E6700 or 3.00GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ attached to 4GB RAM along with a 512MB DX9 graphics card and for high end an Intel Core i7-2600K or AMD FX-4150 or better with 8GB RAM. Of course, the actual minimum requirements for a decent gameplay experience will only become known once the game is released, reviewed and benchmarked.
