Temperature & Noise Testing

Since video card temperatures and the heat generated by next-generation cards have become an area of concern among enthusiasts and gamers, we want to take a closer look at how the graphics cards do at idle, during gaming and finally under a full load.

We recorded temperatures during several scenarios on each of the cards we tested today and the benchmark results are shown above. Since this 2Win video card has two GPU’s we recorded the hotter of the two. The EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2Win had an idle temp of of 30 degrees, which was impressive. During HAWX2 gaming the EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2Win ran at 64C.

Furmark was able to really heat the two cores up as one was running at 73C and the other was running at 77C When running Furmark they were within a degree of each other.

Sound also plays a major role in a video card purchasing decision, so we took out our trusty sound meter to get some numbers.

With our sound meter placed at the edge of the motherboard we were able to measure a decent difference in decibels between the cards. The EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2Win ran at 54 decibels at idle, 62 decibels during gaming and 65 decibels in Furmark. It should be noted that at idle the fans ran at 1500 RPM and then at load they were running at 2400 RPM. Not bad noise levels considering this card has three 75mm cooling fans on it!
