EVGA 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM Motherboard Review
Conclusion
EVGA has taken a great board and made it even better with this revision. I’ve never touched a 790i SLI Ultra but I can’t imagine it being easier to work with or more stable than the EVGA 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM motherboard. The 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM offers great stock performance and even better overclocked performance with plenty of things to tweak. Priced at $330, this board is a bit pricey. Factor in though that at only $330 it’s competing against $350 to $425 boards and it starts to look like a good deal. The only thing that could sour this is the looming Core i7 launch.
The 790i Digital FTW includes a limited lifetime warranty as long as you register the board purchase with EVGA. I’m not a huge fan of this as it makes RMA a hassle if you ever sell the board to another individual or purchase a used but registered board. If EVGA implemented a warranty transfer program it would make this lifetime warranty even sweeter.
If you are a DDR3 aficionado or need a fantastic SLI platform then the Digital FTW would be a great choice. Just keep in mind the upcoming Core i7 launch. Intel Core 2 processors will still be very competitive, but those of you making a large purchase versus simply a motherboard upgrade may wish to hold off. The EVGA 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM is a fantastic board that may simply be overshadowed by the death of LGA775.
Legit Bottom Line: The EVGA 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM motherboard rectifies all the issues with 790i and offers even better performance without increasing costs.
