Epic Games Raked in $3 Billion in Profits in 2018

It pays very well to have the biggest game in all the land, and Epic Games can attest to that. Epic is the company behind the wildly popular Fortntie game, and the developer grossed $3 billion in profit for 2018. A big chunk of that profit lies at the feet of Fortnite.

While banking massive profits, Epic Game has an overall valuation as a company of $15 billion. The massive profit number is impressive as the most popular Battle Royale mode of Fortnite is free-to-play and the game makes money off in-game sales of items. Epic hasn’t offered any indication of specific profit numbers for Fortnite.

The game is incredibly popular with 125 million players. Fortnite has helped Epic Games branch out from the Unreal Engine that it was most known for before and titles like Gears of War.

Gears of War was one of Epic’s early successes having being developed on a $12 million budget and then grossing $100 million reports TechCrunch. As for how much money Fortnite is directly responsible for, estimates claimed that iOS users alone were dropping $1.23 million per day in the game during November.
