Elon Musk Tweets Using Starlink Network

Elon Musk is a bit of a character, to put it mildly, He’s not above the occasional prank or teases via twitter. Recently he made a Tweet that he claims were posted through the Starlink satellites that SpaceX put into orbit.

The tweet is embedded below. The first stated, “Sending this tweet through space via Starlink Satellite” with a satellite emoji at the end. The next tweet said, “Whoa, it worked!!” Since Musk is not afraid to prank people, it’s not clear if he sent the tweet via Starlink.

Mashable says that it has reached out to SpaceX to try and confirm if the tweet actually used Starlink. There is no confirmation offered at this time. SpaceX launched the Starlink satellites in May, and they represent the first 60 that SpaceX wants to put into orbit.

Starlink aims to deliver internet to the entire planet serving all the areas that are underserved or flat unserved. The satellites are orbiting at about 550 km above the Earth.
