Eizo’s Ultra High-Res Monitor to Showcase at NAB 2012

By

New iPad, eat your heart out: this monitor from Eizo makes the iPad’s 2048 x 1536 display look positively low resolution and is enough to make many a geek’s heart flutter. The Eizo FDH3601 sports a mighty resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels (4K resolution), which is actually slightly wider than a 16:9 display. It’s capable of delivering 100% sRGB coverage, ensuring no annoying banding artefacts are visible. It has a 16-bit lookup table, which supports a whopping 278 trillion colours. Maximum brightness is 700cd/m2, contrast ratio is 1000:1 and the response time a very average 8ms – not great for gaming, then. It’s not clear what display technology this monitor is using, but it’s not TN, that’s for sure. The monitor has been selling in Japan for some time now, but if it travels to the USA, then it’s not likely to be much cheaper, if at all. The price in Japan is an astronomical 2.88 million yen, which translates to an equally astronomical US $35,700. Unsurprisingly, only those with deep pockets or who have just won the lottery are likely to buy this monitor. The monitor is due to be showcased at NAB 2012 running from April 14 to 19.

Eizo fera la dmonstration de son premier moniteur 4K, le FDH3601, lors du NAB 2012 qui ouvre ses portes dans quelques jours.
