ECS A770M-A Socket AM2+ Motherboard Review
The Test System
The test system was running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with all available Microsoft updates current up too time of testing. NVIDIA Forceware 169.25 drivers were used on the EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB graphics card. The included mainboard drivers on the ECS CD kept giving me a, “Vista 64 not supported” error so current chipset drivers were downloaded from the AMD website without further incident.
The board employed for comparison purposes, is an older GIGABYTE 570 SLI Nvidia based Socket AM2 chipset. This will provide an overall impression, on how this new mainstream chipset from AMD, stacks up against the well established NVIDIA offerings.
