EA’s Origin Access Premier Launches Next Week
EA has announced during an investor call that Origin Access Premiere will go live next week. That service was originally announced during E3 and will give subscribers early access to new games like Battlefield 5 and Anthem. The current Origin subscription plan will now be called basic.
That basic service will continue to offer all the same features and access that it always has. Premiere tier service will offer the same in-store discount and Vault access as basic but ups the ante with unlimited access to full games as long as the subscription is active. That access includes major new releases from EA.
That means that a Premier subscription would get players access to Madden NFL 19, FIFA 19, Battlefield 5, Anthem, and others. A subscription to Origin Access basic is $5 monthly and the Premiere tier will cost three times that amount at $15 monthly or $100 yearly. Basic subscribers will have the opportunity to upgrade to Premiere reports PC Gamer.
“We do know from our EA Access experience and our Origin Access experience for non-frontline titles that we find people play twice as many games for twice as long and spend twice as much money as they did outside, or before they joined the subscription,” Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen said. “That’s what led us to believe that frontline titles would be also very advantageous to the subscription, as well as help drive new users into the system.”
