E3 2010: No price drop for Sony PS3 – $199 Price was a Mistake
By
Sony has ruled out the possibility of lowering the price of its PlayStation 3 console, ahead of the widely rumoured introduction of a 500GB model at the E3 2010 video games expo in Los Angeles. Mark Howsen, sales director for Sony Computer Entertainment, told gaming website MCV that there had been no internal discussions about a price drop.
The bundling strategy will always continue,” he said. “In terms of price drop, I have no idea. Theres been no discussion internally about that at all. At the moment were enjoying good year-on-year growth and as long as that continues well keep on going, I think. He said that a change to PS3 pricing on Sony’s US website which saw the list price fall from $299 to $199 had been “an error”.
