Winbond Electronics? memory department chief has left for Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC), which in turn has seen one of its top research and development officials depart for ProMOS Technologies, according to the companies. Interesting news for the memory community!

Alex Wang, former general manager of Winbond?s Memory IC Business Group, is now PSC?s vice president in charge of strategic product technology. PSC?s former vice president of its research and development department, Ben Tseng, has joined ProMOS as vice president of its Marketing and Sales Group. Winbond spokesman Wilson Wen said yesterday Wang had been on an unpaid leave since the first quarter of the year, but Wen did not say why Wang had chosen to join PSC. Market sources speculated that Wang, an expert in Flash memory technology, might have been frustrated by Winbond?s delay in deciding whether to build a 12-inch fab.
