Doom Level Creating Roomba Vacuum in the Doomba

By

A game developer and designer called Rich Whitehouse has created something interesting for fans of the old school game Doom. The guy built a way to allow the Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner to use the data it gathers about a room to create Doom levels.

The resulting device is called Doomba and it works thanks to the Roomba vacuum using VSLAM, visual simultaneous localization and mapping. That tech allows it to know what a room looks like and clean in long paths reports Polygon.

The software he created was tested to work with the Roomba 980 vacuum. A level that Whitehouse created using his home and Doomba have been uploaded for people to play.

Whitehouse wrote on his personal blog, “I hope you get some fun out of this feature. Some will say that its pointless, but I have faith in my heart that the Dark Lord will wipe these people from the face of the earth and trap them in a dimension of eternal hellfire. Their suffering will be legendary.
