Diablo 3 Accounts Hacked, Looted Like Demon Corpses

By

Seems Blizzard’s Diablo 3 is the new game to hack and its only been out for one week. The issue is widespread enough that is has happened to a writer over at Eurogamer. Christian Donlan apparently had his account hacked, hilariously enough the conversation with the hacker was captured by review editor Oli Welsh also from Eurogamer. (shown below) This is but one case however, it seems a multitude of reports are popping up about Diablo 3 accounts being hacked. Blizzard’s only option currently has been to roll back a user’s characters to a time before they were hacked, the fix of course isn’t perfect, as progress is still lost. Blizzard has even gone so far as to offer an authenticator which should have provided further security, but it seems to have failed as accounts with it enabled have still been compromised. Sad as it is, accounts are being hacked and stripped of all items, gold, etc and it’s becoming a severe issue. Let’s hope Blizzard can crack down on the problem before they release the real money auction house, as when that happens the problem could escalate to unprecedented proportions. Blizzard has yet to respond to reports on the issue.

Diablo 3 Account Hacked

One theory suggested by players on the Battle.net forum revolves around hijacking session identifiers, which would allow hackers to take over accounts without alerting Blizzard’s authentication server. Again, this remains unconfirmed.
