Developers Given Early Access To Megupload API In Preparation For Relaunch

Kim Dotcom, the man behind Megaupload, whom the U.S. has been trying to extradite for some time on various charges, is now offering developers early access to the API that will be used in the Megaupload relaunch. On his Twitter Dotcom has said the “Mega API will provide incredible power” which will “change the world.” The big feature most likely to draw peoples’ attention is the one-click-encryption of a users data transfers for total privacy and the fact it is free of charge. This of course comes on the heels of the Megabox music service that Dotcom has been talking about and that we have reported on previously. Regardless of how much of his claims are true, or what will happen in future extradition hearings, Kim Dotcom seems to be more motivated now than he was previously. He has requested that developers of up/download and file managers, email and fax tools, VOIP and video apps get in touch with him so they can gain access to the new API. He has also stated that with a rebooted global network “non-US hosters” will be able to connect servers and bandwidth. Whether or not this is more than just bravado remains to be seen.
