Dell Unveils Latitude 6430u – 14-inch Ultrabook

By

Dell today unveiled new additions to its portfolio of business-class computers and the Latitude 6430u Ultrabook managed to catch our attention. The Latitude 6430u is a 14-inch Ultrabook that strikes the balance between aesthetic appeal and corporate needs with the combination of security, manageability and durability in a thin, highly-mobile form factor. The Latitude 6430u has a 14-inch matte display that runs a resolution of 1366 x 768. Intel processors are being used (duh, it is an Ultrabook) and users have the option of Core i3, i5 and i7 ‘Ivy Bridge’ processors with vPro technology. You can also add up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB worth of solid state storage. The Latitude 6430u also has 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and mobile broadband available to keep you connected on the go.

The new design is 33 percent slimmer and 16 percent lighter (3.7lbs) than Dells current 14-inch Latitude notebook, making it a desirable option for mobile workers. Preliminary battery life testing by Dell shows all-day productivity with a single battery charge. The only downside to this Ultrabook is that is it not touch-enabled, which is bad news for those wanting a touch-enabled Ultrabook to go along with the Windows 8 launch next month. Dell is launching the Latitude 10, Latitude 6430u and OptiPlex 9010 AIO systems with the launch of Windows 8, so not supporting touch on the Ultrabook is a bit of a shock.

“Be productive anywhere with this thin and powerful Ultrabook. The Latitude 6430u takes mobility to the next level, offering business-class security and control, plus long battery life all in a sleek design.” – Dell PR
