Crysis 2 Suddenly Reappears On Steam as Maximum Edition

By

Without warning, Crysis 2 is suddenly back on Steam! Surprisingly, there have been no leaks and no promotion of the game beforehand. This comes after the bitter spat with Electronic Arts over the co-publishing of Crysis 2 on Origin last June, which was against their contract with Valve and saw the game unceremoniously pulled from the Steam gaming platform. As this release has obviously been made as a result of a resolution of this disagreement, it probably explains the low key release. Note that Crysis 2 is actually being promoted on the Steam website’s front page however, so they’re not exactly hiding it.

It’s back better than ever too as the Maximum Edition, with four limited edition unlocks: bonus XP, scar weapon skin, weapon attachment and unique platinum dog tag. It also includes retaliation and decimation packs, sporting a total of 9 additional multiplayer maps supporting all game modes and two new weapons – FY71 assault rifle and M18 smoke grenade. Also, Crysis 2 was upgraded a while back to make full use of DirectX 11, so the special effects are spectacular and a benchmark for other games to follow.

But best of all however, it has no third party DRM stuffed into it, unlike the original version which had a SecuROM 5 activation machine limit, so this is very welcome news indeed. The price is $40 US / 25 UK and is available for half price to owners of the existing version until June 12 at 10am Pacific Time. The game also remains available on Origin, giving gamers a choice of their preferred platform, making for some healthy competition.

About the game: aliens are decimating New York City, only you have the technology to survive. Adapt in real time using the unique Nanosuit 2 Stealth, Armor and Power abilities, then tackle the alien menace in ways a regular soldier could only dream of. Crysis 2 redefines the visual benchmark for console and PC platforms in the urban jungle of NYC. Be The Weapon.
