Just to give you a general idea of what Cryostasis looks like and how the PhysX engine helps out, here are a few pictures. Below, each image is a short explanation describing what precisely is happening in the image.

Here a character is being drenched in a flood of water with water drops striking his shoulders and splattering outwards.

Here water from a hose is pouring down a staircase. The water puddles and cascades down the stairs in a realistic fashion.

Here a barrel has been thrown into a pool of water causing water particles to explode outwards. Pictures don’t do the demo justice, so here is a video that we made of the Demo using FRAPS.

As you can tell from the above video the physics taking place in Cryostasis are unlike anything seen in previous game titles. The high image quality settings were used to make the video and it was very impressive to watch at full resolution. Let’s take a look at the test system and then look at the performance numbers.
