Final Thoughts and Conclusion

The Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB 1600MHz Arctic White Special Edition kit promises to be good-performing RAM that will run cool by using less voltage. It also boasts a lower profile that is useful in SFF or HTPC system chassis that are smaller than a traditional desktop tower.

At stock speeds, this RAM performs as it should. Performance was in line with other 1600MHz DDR3 kits we have tested. We were slightly disappointed by our overclocking results since we were unable to get our sample stable at 1866MHz setting. As Corsair has told us, memory overclocking headroom is random, and no results are guaranteed. However, we were able to push a similar kit of 1600MHz Vengeance (non-LP) to 1866MHz without issue. It is likely Corsair bins the ICs used in the LP kits specifically because they don’t have a significant amount of overclocking headroom, but can still run at a low 1.35v voltage. It is unlikely a buyer of this kit would be primarily interested in overclocking, so that is clearly not a priority for this product line.

Speaking of the lower voltage, these sticks run very cool as a result. We also saw improvements in total system power draw compared to other 8GB kits that run at higher voltages.
