Corsair Vengeance 2100 Wireless Gaming Headset Review
Looking around the Corsair Vengeance 2100
As with the other Vengeance headsets, the Vengeance 2100 features full-sized closed-back earcups with generous space for a comfortable fit. This headset is also the heaviest of the three new Vengeance headsets because of the internal battery. Despite this, it is the most comfortable Vengeance headset due to the flatter padding on the headband and the dual joints that connect to the earcups.
The headset comes with a 47 inch (1.2 m) USB-to-microUSB cord for recharging the headset, a USB wireless adapter, and a 63 inch (1.6 m) USB extension cable. The battery is rated for 10 hours on a full charge.
The USB extension cable can be used for just about any USB device and not just for the Vengeance 2100. The female end of this cable opens upward from a plastic base. The base isnt weighted and isnt non-slip, but there were no problems elevating the base and adapter nearly 3 feet above onto a shelf and keeping it there. The only time it fell off was when the USB cable was accidentally pulled from below.
A good amount of action can be found on the left earcup. The big gray button in the center is the power button which is pressed and held for a few seconds to turn on or off. When the headset is turned on, the blue led indicator next to the power button will flash.
The microUSB cable also plugs into the left earcup for charging. The light surrounding the microUSB port will flash orange during a recharge and will glow a steady green when charging is complete. The headset functions normally when plugged in.
At the very bottom of the earcup is a volume scroll bar and rolling the bar up or down changes the system volume.
The Vengeance 2100 has a different microphone mute implementation from its wired siblings. Since the wireless headset lacks an inline controller and because someone decided against putting a microphone mute switch anywhere, the microphone is muted when the boom is flipped upwards against the headset.
Corsair has stated that the hinges have been beefed-up compared to their past headsets in response to durability complaints.
The Vengeance 2100s headband is wider than that of its siblings. The padding is also flatter which distributes weight across a larger surface. This is a good ergonomic design given the headsets weight.
The handband length is adjustable above both earcups.
The microphone consists of a swiveling boom with a length of roughly 5.75 inches. The boom is bendable in only one direction towards the user.
