Corsair Dominator 1600MHz 6GB Triple-Channel Memory Kit
Corsair’s Triple Channel Dominator
With CES coming later this week I figured we would start out the week on the right foot and look at a 6GB triple-channel DDR3 1600MHz memory kit from Corsair Memory. The Corsair Dominator 6GB PC3-12800 DDR3 triple channel memory kit has been specially designed to work with Intel’s new Core i7 platform. The Intel Core i7 processor has a completely new onboard memory controller with three memory channels rather than the two channels we have all come to love since dual channel memory became mainstream in 2003. It is hard to believe that dual channel memory has been around for six years, but it is now time to move on to triple channel.
The Corsair Dominator 6GB PC3-12800 DDR3 triple channel memory kit features Corsairs Dual-path Heat Xchange (DHX) technology, which offers a tough visual appearance and better cooling. Corsair tests the three piece module set together at the factory at 1600MHz in X58-based DDR3 motherboards and if they pass, they are packaged and shipped out to the retail market. This process ensures that there won’t be a stability issue between the modules when running at operating speeds under full load.
The TR3X6G1600C8D memory kit contains 6144MByte of DDR3 SDRAM DIMMs and has an SPD that is programmed to include Intels Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP 1.2). I checked the Intel XMP website and found that this memory kit is listed on the compatible memory list for Intel Core i7 processors, so it is fully Intel certified. The fronts of the memory modules have the familiar Corsair logo and the product series and memory type are clearly labeled.
The back of the modules again has the Corsair logo on it for branding and the detailed information about the specifications of the kit.
