Nepton 240M Packaging and What’s In The Box?

Cooler Master tends to do a really nice job with their product packaging, and the Nepton 240M also continues on that trend. The box is covered with nice shades of purple and black throughout, which is very common among their products.

Beginning with the front of the box, you will find that it features a nice shot of the Nepton 240M itself, along with information that this is a high performance cooling solution, which uses the all new Silencio 120 fans.

The back side gives you a few bullet points about the cooler, some performance data, and detailed measurements of the cooler. This is also one of several spots where you see this cooler is compatible with a large number of Intel and AMD processors.

The left hand side is where you find all of the technical specifications, like the ones you found on Page 1.

The rest of the box either has pictures of the Nepton 240M or just text advertising that this is what the product is.

Opening up the box you’ll find a traditional packaging method – egg carton style. Everything was packed neat and well.

Slipping the Nepton 240M out of the packaging and its packing materials, you can’t help but enjoy the beautiful design. The radiator came darn near flawless and looks much nicer than the 280L. The housing for the pump and block looks identical to the 280L, however the FEP tubing is slightly different. This tubing wasn’t near as flexible and was shorter in length. Don’t think of the tubing as completely stiff, but rather it was just a smidge tougher to flex. Also, the overall diameter of the tubing was smaller than the 280L.

So what was flawed on the radiator? Well, all of the fins were perfect, which is pretty rare. I actually noticed that a bit of the finish on the radiator itself was chipped off. While this isn’t a huge deal, I wanted to point this minor flaw out.

The Silencio 120 fans are not pre-installed on the 240M, which is not a big deal. There is a rubber anti-vibration gasket that will go between the radiator and fans when you install them, which will prove to be a tiny bit tricky, but still overall easy to work with. Included in this kit is all the hardware that you need to work with the various previously mentioned Intel and AMD sockets. I’d like to note that Cooler Master was generous with this kit as well, including screws for a push/pull configuration, should you choose to do such.

The shroud around the pump/block is identical to what was found on the Nepton 280L. When plugged into a power source, the Cooler Master logo will glow a soft white.

Cooler Master Nepton 240M CPU Block

The copper CPU block has a protective plastic sticker adhered here, which is easily removed. The pump itself has a 4-pin fan connector to not only light up the Cooler Master logo, but power the pump and regulate pump RPMs.

Cooler Master Nepton 240M Copper Base

Once we remove this sticker you will find that the copper base is not a smooth finish, rather a textured finish like we found on the Nepton 280L. It proved to work quite well with that kit, so we’re expecting similar results here.

Here’s a close-up shot of what the copper base looks like. The texture is quite distinct.

The FEP tubing still looks cheap, but it is actually quite the opposite of what it is. The FEP tubing was designed to improve flow and prevent flow-hindering kinks. Not only that, but this tubing assists with evaporation loss – keeping it at a minimum.

Maybe you noticed it in the first picture on this page, but the Nepton 240M impression on the side of the radiator is a very nice touch. For whatever reason it brings a sense of being a quality cooler.

For grins, here is another picture showing you that it is indeed pressed into the metal and not just a sticker or silk screen.

This covers the unboxing and introduction to the Nepton 240M, so let’s move on and see how easy or difficult it was to assemble and install.
