Cooler Master Choiix BoomBoom Notebook Travel Speaker Review
Final Thoughts on the BoomBoom!
Although I did run into problems with the way the BoomBoom Speaker sounds, it is actually excellent at what it was designed for. It is simple to hook up and requires absolutely no external power source; what you see in the pictures below is all that is needed to get the BoomBoom Speaker up and running on your laptop, netbook or even your iPod if you so wish. It is powered via the USB slot and as I mentioned before there is no need for an external power source such as an adapter or batteries so it is always ready to go when you are; just plug in the USB cord and the audio cord and that’s all. No really, that’s all. With its compact size and light weight it is actually a breeze to slide into your laptop bag and you will still have plenty of room for all of the other accessories you used to have to carry in another bag because of big bulky speakers.
The idea of the BoomBoom speaker is a good one because the last thing a traveler needs is something else to lug around. The BoomBoom Speaker is not a huge improvement to the speakers that are already installed in your laptop and are about on par with netbook speakers. At $24.99 shipped in either black or white colors it does a fair job for the price that you are paying. The included one year warranty is always nice to have as you know the product is covered for the first year of ownership.
Perhaps a price reduction would make this product a bit more appealing to those folks that need a solution when they are trying to keep quiet in a car or hotel room while someone else is asleep and you don’t want to strap on your headphones. The sound from the BoomBoom Speaker is very treble heavy with little to no bass and distorts at mid range volumes. I would like to thank Choiix for allowing us to take a look at the BoomBoom Speaker.
The Legit Bottom Line: A high price for such little improvement. The Choiix BoomBoom Speaker C-PAO1_KK looks nice, it just offers little to no improvement over the devices I tested.
