The Dog-e-Minder is a very simple product that solves a problem that most households in the world encounter if they have pets that they care for. When we first heard about the Dog-e-Minder we thought that it would be rather large and heavy, but in reality it is small and light weight. The Dog-e-Minder weighs in at just 18 grams (less than one ounce) with the battery installed, so the dog won’t be weighed down by having the Dog-e-Minder on their collar!

The Dog-e-Minder was also fairly rugged as the housing is plastic and the battery is sealed in a water resistant housing thanks to the o-ring that is used. The packaging says that the device is water proof, but we all know that nothing is really water proof! The key chain ring on the Dog-e-Minder is also well crafted as it is strong and won’t spin around. This is great as when you reach down to program the Dog-e-Minder it will always be facing forward and up.

Using the Dog-e-Minder is very easy and for a product like this that is ideal. It has to be able to be used by an 8 year old and an 80 year old and the creators of Dog-e-Minder have knocked it out of the park on that one. With only three buttons on the device and the images of what each button does on them, you know what each button does even if you’ve never seen the device before. If you feed your dog or pet just hold down the button for a few seconds and you are done. Press the button again and it shows you when the last time your pet was walked, fed or given its medication. What about nighttime use? No worries as the display has a back light.

What are the negatives of the product? After years of use we can see the screen becoming scratched up and the paint on the buttons being worn off. Other than that, the Dog-e-minder appears to be a solid product that costs $19.95 plus 3.95 shipping and handling. You also get to pick from four colors as the Dog-e-Minder is available in red, black, blue and pink.
