The Dog-e-Minder comes with instructions on how to use the device, the 3 Volt CR2032 battery and the device itself. The CR2032 battery is a very common battery that is found in everything from garage door remote controls to battery powered optics used in many sniper rifle scopes. Basically, this is a very common and easily obtainable battery that you should be able to pick up from the corner store if you ever need a replacement.
The Dog-e-Minder is very light weight at just 18 grams and would be comfortable for any dog to wear. The back is easy to take off just use a coin to twist the back right off. The simplicity of the this device is the key to its success and it is easy to use at any age group. Whether its a young child or an older adult this is a very user friendly device.
The Dog-e-Minder is waterproof however the developer does not suggest to keep the device submerged for long periods of time. With that being said if your dog is caught out in the rain and the device gets wet it is not going to hurt it thanks to the o-ring that is used to seal the battery in the device. When you initially put in your battery the Dog-e-Minder goes straight into setup mode. It will first take you through the date & time setup and then continue into your pets name and your contact phone number.
The Dog-e-Minder uses a simple, three-button design that is easy for any family member to use. Each button has a symbol related to an activity. The fire hydrant symbolizes walk time, the dog bone represents feeding time and the RX symbol records the last time medication was administered. When you perform any one of these activities, simply hold the corresponding button down for three seconds and the current date and time is saved. To view stored information, just press the appropriate button once, and the display shows the last time the task was completed. When idle, the Dog-e-Minder also acts as a dog identification tag, displaying your pets name along with owners 7-digit phone number. It also shows the current date and time when at an idle state the Dog-e-Minder flips between the date and the information data.
The Dog-e-Minder also features a backlight, which is great for low light situations. Here we pressed the walk button and it shows us that the pet was last walked at 9:32am.
