Comcast and Sony Plan Horror Network Channel

By

Comcast Corp., the biggest U.S. cable television provider, and Sony Corp. plan to create cable’s first video-on-demand horror network to increase ad sales. I’m not sure how I feel about these commercials that I am not able to fast-forward through, but they are coming.

The channel will be available to Comcast customers Oct. 31. The companies also plan other channels that tap the film libraries of Sony and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., owned by four private equity firms, Comcast and Sony. Diane Robina, Comcast’s president of emerging networks, expects to add advertisers, including a commercial before each movie that viewers will not be able to fast-forward through, she said. The channel will come at no extra charge for Comcast customers.
