CoD Modern Warfare 2 Gains Xbox Backward Compatibly

Fans of early Call of Duty franchise games like Modern Warfare 2 will be glad to hear that you can finally play the game in backward compatibility on the Xbox One. Modern Warfare 2 first launched way back in 2009 and the game still stands well on its own today. Backward compatibility is offered for the game on both the Xbox One and Xbox One X right now reports IGN.

The announcement came via Major Nelson on twitter. Modern Warfare 2 takes its spot alongside other classic entries in the Call of Duty franchise that include every other game except the 2003 original. It’s hard to believe Call of Duty has been around for 15 years now.

If you have the old Modern Warfare 2 game lying around it will play, but if you dont it is on sale. You can pick up a copy for $14.99 right now in digital form on the Xbox store.

The game is worth a play and for me is one of the most memorable entries in the franchise. That level where you fight it out in the TV studio is one of my all-time favorite scenes in a video game.
