Cheaper Keplers On Way: GT 640, GTX 650, GTX 660

By

It looks like the cheaper Kepler cards are going to start appearing in May. NVIDIA will release two GK107-based cards, one with GDDR5 memory (GTX 650) and the other GDDR3 (GT 640) and will likely replace the GTX 550 Ti. The GK107 GPU will have 384 CUDA cores, but other specs are not yet known. Prices should be around 90-110 Euro or so.

There’s a GTX 660 coming in the summer for around 200 Euro which will be based on the GK106 GPU. This will have 768 CUDA cores, 64 texture units and 24 ROPs. The memory bus will be 192-bits wide and bolted to 2GB GDDR5 memory.

Unfortunately, there’s still no word on the GK110 killer GPU with 2304 CUDA cores and there’s a possibility that it might not be released at all, depending on how well the GTX 680 4GB does in the market.

There are no specifications of the rest cards based on GK104 core yet. Those cards are GTX 670 Ti, GTX 670 and GTX 690. First two should be available in May. GTX 670 Ti will be priced at 320 (around 380/$390) and GTX 670 will have a price tag of 240 (~290/$300). Even though these cards are based on GK104 GPU (same as GTX 680) it is unknown if they will feature same number of CUDA cores and TMUs/ROPs. They will most likely have reduced CUDA cores or at least lower overclocking capabilities.
