CES 2009: CES Unveiled Pre-show Event
Novint Technologies – Falcon Controller
The Novint Technologies booth was showing off 3D touch gaming technology on the Falcon controller with both the recently released pistol grip and the traditional grip that has been around for some time now. For those that don’t know, the Novint Falcon takes the place of a mouse or joystick and allows gamers to feel game actions, objects, environments and force feedback in enabled PC games. The newer pistol grip is interchangeable with the Falcons standard Grip and lets action gamers feel weapon recoil, enemy attacks and other in-game interactions for an incredibly realistic experience.
The Falcon controller can be used with a number of popular game titles like Battlefield 2, The Orange Box, Left 4 Dead and Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising. The picture above shows a journalist using the traditional grip on the Falcon controller while playing a PC game at the CES: Unveiled press event.
The other option is the pistol grip, which is what we tried out on the PC Game Title Left 4 Dead and it was pretty slick to be honest. Priced at $149.99 plus shipping the Falcon Controller might be worth a try for those looking for something new when it comes to PC gaming. To better show how the Falcon Controller works we made a quick video showing you it in action.
Everyone that had a chance to try it out seemed to enjoy the sensation of having recoil when firing guns and touching objects in the game. We’d love to get our hands on one to give it a full review, so stay tuned and we will see what we can make happen!
