CES 2008: OCZ Introduces Flex2, 32GB Flash, SSD’s and More
OCZ SATA and SATA2 Solid State Drives (SSD)
As if the Flex2, Hydroflow, HydroJet, Neural Impulse Actuator and 32GB Flash USB drives were not enough OCZ will also introduce its new high-capacity SATA and SATAII Solid State Drives in 2008. offering consumers a faster, more reliable and power efficient alternative to standard hard disc drives for laptops.
With the 2.5″ Solid State Drive flipped over the SATA header and SATA power connector can be seen. OCZ had just put this 64GB SATA drive on display as the SATAII drives are still being produced and were not available for the show. OCZ did have a sign on display though.
The OCZ 2.5″ SATA Solid State Drive has read performance up to 58MB/Sec and write performance up to 35MB/Sec. The upcoming SATA2 SSD drives are much faster and come rated with 120MB/Sec read performance and 100MB/Sec write performance. These are impressive performance numbers and are going to lead to some very fast systems that are very realiable. The mean time between failure (MTBF) on this SSD is 2,000,000 hours, which is more than 83,333 days of use!!
OCZ has a ton of new products coming out in 2008 and all of them are very impressive. OCZ Technology is for sure one company that you will want to keep a watch of in 2008 and beyond.
