CaseLabs Closing – Blaims Trump Trade War

By

CaseLabs, a high-end PC case maker, announced over the weekend that it would be permanently closing. The bad news is that they won’t be able to fulfill all the current case orders. The California company posted a closure notice on their website and said that recent tariffs had increased material costs by almost 80 percent. The manufacturer is likely to be referring to US tariffs placed on Chinese goods. They also pointed out that the default of a large account had also happened and made matters worse. This is the first time we have seen the Trump trade war impact the American PC industry.

CaseLabs didn’t mention anything about other companies stealing their designs, but back in 2015 another company was said to have “stolen” CaseLabscase design and engaged in unfair competition. Having another company or two coming out with products very similar to yours is never a good thing and could have played a role in the demise in the company.

CASELABS Closing

In the years ahead CaseLabs will fondly be remembered as making some of the best PC cases to ever come to market. We’d also like to say thanks for CaseLabs sending over the Magnum M8 PC Case for us to review back in 2011. The problem with CaseLabs’ PC cases is that they were so good that you don’t need to buy another one! The Magnum M8 we reviewed is still in use today and will likely still be used for many years to come.
