Blizzard Reveals Update Plans For Diablo III

By

Blizzard looks to have a handle on Diablo III’s updates having laid out plans on what each patch will bring to the table. The next patch 1.0.2 will come out next week and is ment to fix service issues that have been plaguing many users and keeping them from getting into the game. That patch after that 1.0.3 will be all about game balance as its the first patch to bring real changes in that regard. The 1.0.3 patch will bring a rebalance of Inferno difficulty, which the developers feel was weighted to heavily toward spike damage. On top of that the blacksmith will get some much needed changes as well with training costs being lowered and gem combination costs getting dropped from three down to two. Finally levels will be displayed on level 60+ items in order to show where they stand in comparison to other gear. The thing on everyones mind however, is when will PvP (player vs player) be added, well it looks like patch 1.1 will be the answer. Blizzard plans to bring PvP in with version 1.1 on top of legendary items getting changes to buffs, but don’t worry the changes are not retroactive so your current gear wont be changed. It’s good to see Blizzard taking a strong deliberate approach to patching Diablo III.

Blizzard also posted some interesting figures about average gameplay trends, including the fact that players create three characters each, 80 percent of them are between levels 1 and 30, 54 percent of Hardcore players choose a female character, 35 percent of Hardcore deaths occur in Act I Normal, only 1.9 percent of characters have unlocked Inferno difficulty, and the most common level 60 build is only used by 0.7 percent of maxed characters, showing the diversity of class builds available.
