Blizzard Announces A New Hero To Join Overwatch: Orisa

Blizzard has announced a new hero to join the Overwatch roster, say hello to Orisa. The new hero will be the twenty-fourth character in the series and the third additional character to be added post launch.

An eleven year old engineer prodigy, Efi Oladele builds Orisa to give all of Numbani a fighting chance. With salvaged parts of an OR15 robot, Efi builds Orisa after witnessing a devastating attack by Overwatch antagonist, Doomfist. It is a surprise to many fans of Overwatch we are not instead welcoming Doomfist. There has been much speculations in recent months Terry Crews would be voicing Doomfist in addition to being an upcoming playable character.

Our next hero will be the sixth Tank class character featured to help defend teammates. The primary weapon will be a rapid-fire called Fusion Driver which will act like a projectile machine gun that slows movement while fired. Orisas Fortify ability will temporarily reduce taken damage and prevents Orisa from action-impairing effects. Halt! Launches a shot that groups nearby enemies together towards the detonation. Our new hero will also have a Protective Barrier similar to Reinhardt and Winstons shields. Protective Barrier will allow users to not just hold their ground, but also help defend teammates from a distance. Finally, the Ultimate is called Supercharger, which is a device set (can be destroyed) which provides all teammates within sight with a damage boost.

Orisa is now available to all PC players to beta test through the Overwatch Public Test. A final release for PC and consoles has yet to be announced.
