Bethesda Releases Skyrim 1.4 Beta Patch, Available Now On Steam

As was promised by Bethesda a beta 1.4 patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is available on Steam for anyone who wishes to try it. The beta patch offers fixes for a large number of bugs and crashes, but the big news is the performance and memory optimizations. (Check the patch notes for a full list of details.) Now I for one am extremely impressed with the performance gains this patch brings to the table, with some users seeing massive gains in framerate. It should be noted however that if you wish to use the beta patch that backing up all your saved games should be a top priority, after all better safe then sorry.

Step by Step Skyrim Beta 1.4 Patch Installation.

  • Log into Steam.
  • Click on Steam in the Upper Menu.
  • Select Settings.
  • Under Account tab, go to Beta Participation section and select change.
  • Drop down menu will appear, Select Skyrim Beta.
  • Select OK
  • Steam should now restart. After Steam restarts, Skyrim will update to the Beta 1.4 patch.
