Augmented Reality iPhone App Finds London Tube

By

Social Media expert, Erik Qualman, posted up a couple of YouTube videos featuring two different implementations of Augmented Reality. What is AR you ask? Think of it as using GPS positioning and display technology to overlay useful information on the real world. Check out this iPhone 3GS application demo that shows users where the nearest London Tube access is as well as where the actual lines lay underground! If you head over to the Socialnomics post, you will find another implementation by GM to help drivers see in poor driving conditions by using data from a ton of sensors.

That is why these two videos, one for GM and one for an iPhone Application that helps you find the London Tube locations, are so great. They easily showcase in a few minutes how powerful augmented reality can be in our daily lives. For example GMs new cars will have the ability to highlight the edge of the road and display it on the windshield on a dark and stormy night. Watch and enjoy!
