AT&T Says True 4G for Motorola Atrix and HTC Inspire Coming Soon

By

Those of us that have Motorola’s newest toy, the Atrix 4G, love the hardware but have been complaining a bit about the network. More than just drops, it seems that AT&T has been throttling the speed to the Atrix and Inspire making them essentially 3G speeds. AT&T has released a statement that reads in part, “…we have a number of HSUPA devices today and we will have more HSUPA-enabled devices in the future-new devices and updates to existing models.” Speculation is that a firmware update (or two) is on its way so that the devices can deliver 4G HSUPA speeds.

AT&T to Speed Up Atrix and Inspire

We’re hoping that means we’ll see a bunch of firmware updates in the next few months that flip the switch on HSUPA, especially for owners of phones like the Inspire and the Atrix, both of which have a shaky “4G” tacked on to the ends of their names.
