ATI X1000 Series Video Card Roundup
The ATI X1300 Pro, X1300 and X1300 HyperMemory:
First up, on the value end of the range there are three X1300-based video cards. The top model, the X1300 Pro, carries a price tag of $149. That gets you a GPU that runs at 600MHz and memory that runs at 800MHz. The regular X1300 has an MSRP of $79 for the 128MB card and $99 for the 256MB part. There is also a lower cost X1300 that utilizes the HyperMemory technology. The actual physical amount of RAM on this video card is 32MB; the rest is shared with the system RAM to equal 128MB of available RAM. Looking at the pictures, the X1300 Pro looks almost identical to the X1600 XT. The main difference is the X1600XT has dual DVI ports while the X1300 Pro has a DVI port and a VGA port.
Today we will be taking a look at the X1300 Pro and our test card is pictured here . The heatsink is made of copper and is a single slot solution which all you small form factor types can appreciate. Not only is it small, it’s very quiet and keeps things nice and cool.
The back…..
The ATI X1300 Pro comes with 256mb of DDR2 memory. Our test card was using Infineon GDDR2 memory IC’s with the part number HYB18T256161AF-25. These IC’s were found to be rated at 800MHz, which is the frequency that ATI has chosen to run the X1300 Pro at. If you plan on overclocking one of these keep in mind that the memory IC’s are already nearly maxed out according to the factory speed ratings.
Let’s take a look at the next step up in performance.
