ATI Radeon HD 4670 Graphics Card Review
Race Driver GRID
Race Driver: GRID (known as GRID in North America) is the latest addition to the TOCA Touring Car series by Codemasters, published and developed by the same company. It was announced on April 19, 2007, and is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and PC. The game was released on June 3, 2008 in North America.
Race Driver: GRID uses Codemasters’ own Ego engine, an evolved version of the Neon engine already used in their previous release, Colin McRae DIRT. The damage code has been completely rewritten to allow for persistent damage environments.
Results: Race Driver: GRID didn’t seem to be tough on graphics cards until we ran it at 16XQCSAA on the GeForce 9600 GSO and found it running 5FPS. I backed down the multisampling to 8xMSAA in order for it to run better on the cards, but the GeForce 9500 GT couldn’t even load the game with 8xMSAA enabled! At 1280×1024 the Radeon HD 4670 was found to be the fastest card of the group of four that I tested at these settings. The GeForce 9500 GT was able to run the game at 22FPS at 1280×1024, but even at 22FPS it is impossible to control the car when trying to get it around the track in something other than last place.
