The original ASUS Zenbook UX31E was a good product, but it wasn’t refined and we knew that changes had to be done to make it a great product. The ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A has proven to be a great successor thanks to numerous refinements and more importantly a faster CPU and GPU. We love the improved touchpad drivers, IPS display, illuminated keyboard, additional USB 3.0 port and how the charging cable stays plugged in! All of these changes and improvements have made the ASUS Zenbook Prime one amazing Intel Ultrabook!

When it comes to pricing the ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A-DB51 that we showed you in this review can be found for $1049.95.The original ASUS Zenbook UX31E-DH52 is $997.92 shipped, so to get all these improvements for about $50 more is amazing. The UX31A has so many improvements over the original UX31E that there really is no choice to make. The ASUS UX31A has numerous features that are superior to the UX31W and is the Ultrabook to buy.

That said ASUS isn’t done updating the Zenbook Prime and just this week announced the ASUS UX31A-DH51. This is basically the same ultrabook that we have reviewed today, but comes with Windows 8 Home Premium 64-bit. ASUS is also allowing pre-orders of the Zenbook Prime UX31A-BHI5T11, which features a 13.3″ high-definition touch-screen display for easy navigation in Windows 8 and is available in radiant black. The pre-order price for this model is $1099.99, so for an extra $50 over the model we reviewed today you get a touch screen and what looks to be all the same features.

The choice of which ASUS Zenbook Prime to get is up to you and will mainly depend on what operating system you want to run. Having a Zenbook Prime with Windows 8 and a touchscreen for $50 more than the Windows 7 version doesn’t sound like a bad deal though! ASUS is on the right path with the Zenbook Prime and we certainly recommend it! We didn’t recommend the original Zenbook due to some of the issues we had with it, but all those have been fixed and the UX31A series will give you a great computing experience!

Legit Bottom Line: The ASUS Zenbook Prime UX31A series is well designed, performs great and is all that one can ask for in an Intel Ultrabook!
