ASUS X99-A Intel X99 Motherboard Performance Review
Intel X99 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Performance Testing
CrystalDiskMark is a small benchmark utility for drives and enables rapid measurement of sequential and random read/write speeds. Note that CDM only supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ) with a queue depth of 32 (as noted) for the last listed benchmark score. This can skew some results in favor of controllers that also do not support NCQ.
Testing of the USB3 was done using the “Thermaltake BlacX 5G Hard Drive Docking Station . The drive used was an Corsair Neutron 240Gb SSD.
Benchmark Results: The ASUS X99-A has both the Intel and ASMedia USB Controller on the I/O panel, figure why not test them both. The Intel SuperSpeed USB 3.0 controller was considerably faster than the ASMedia controller during the Sequential Read and Write tests. The Intel Controller hit 424.0MB/s read and 362.0MB/s write while the ASMedia controller hit only 305.9MB/s read and 315.0MB/s write. The 4K Read and 4K Writes were the fastest of all of the boards on the ASMedia controller.
HD Tune Pro 5.00 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark.

Intel X99 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 HD Tune 5.50 Write Benchmark Results
Testing of the USB3 was done using the “Thermaltake BlacX 5G Hard Drive Docking Station . The drive used was an Corsair Neutron 240Gb SSD.
Benchmark Results: The ASUS X99-A ASMedia SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Controller was the fastest of the boards that we have tested the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 on. The Average read was 276.9MB/s, the next fastest was the ASUS P9X79-Pro motherboard with an average read of 263.7MB/s. The Average write was also the fastest with an average of 290.3MB/s. The Intel SuperSpeed USB 3.0 controller on the ASUS X99-A was solid with an Average Read of 244.4MB/s and an Average Write of 225.9MB/s, spot on with other Intel X99 motherboards.
