ASUS Turns To Compal For ODM Laptops For The First Time Ever

It has been reported that Compal Electronics has obtained orders for three million notebooks from Asustek Computer for 2011. This is the first time the two companies to entering into ODM cooperation, according to industry sources in Taiwan and is rather big news as it will give them access to new designs and factories.
Asustek aims to ship 10 million notebooks in 2011 and has decided on ODM partners in principle, the sources pointed out. Pegatron Technology, a maker spun off from Asustek, has landed 50% of the total shipment volume, followed by Quanta Computer with 25%, Compal with 15% and Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry) with 10%, the sources indicated.
