ASUS Transformer Book T100HA Review
Final Thoughts and Conclusions
When ASUS first announced this convertible table, we really wanted to take a look since the new quad-core Intel Atom processor looked to be quite stout for a tablet especially one costing less than $300. One of the first questions that comes to mind is how well can the ASUS T100HA perform given the new Intel Cherry Trail ATOM x5? The simple answer is: Quite well! During our testing time, we never experienced any sort of slow down or pausing when using the device in tablet mode or with the keyboard attached.
The T100HA was able to integrate into our home and office network very easily and share and discover files. With the built in wireless-n we were able to play high-definition multimedia files with no problems what so ever.
One of the drawbacks to this device is the one of its main advantages: the small footprint and size of the tablet. Because it is running a full-version of Windows 10, there is a lot of information being displayed and if you like looking at larger fonts, you might not like the default text size. But this is Windows and you can easily change how things look.
Another potential challenge is the smaller-than-normal keyboard. The T100HA keyboard is the chicklet-type and might take some getting used to for those accustomed to normal-sized desktop or gaming keyboards. I was comfortable creating and editing many different kinds of documents, spreadsheets and presentations, but did get slightly fatigued because of the size of the keyboard.
The ASUS Transformer Book is turning into one of my most used devices in the office. It really is very versatile. I am able to access all my documents without any limitations and edit or create from scratch. The T100HA is small enough and light enough that I dont mind putting it with my paper notebook or stack of papers and having it in a meeting instead of a larger laptop.
Is this Transformer Book perfect? It certainly doesnt have the processing power that the newest Microsoft Surface Book ($1499) or Surface 4 ($899) has, nor does it have the cool factor of the Apple iPad Air 2 ($445), but for $299 shipped, there is no other tablet we would recommend higher than the ASUS Transformer Book T100HA.
Legit Bottom Line:
The ASUS Transformer Book T100HA is one of our favorite devices and may not be as cool as other tablets, the detachable keyboard and full-functioning Windows 10 really set this convertible tablet apart from its competitorsof course the $300 price tag doesnt hurt either!
