ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080 Ti OC Edition Review
Final Thoughts and Conclusions
The ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 2080 Ti OC Edition bested the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FE in our gaming benchmarks thanks to the higher clock speeds and lower operating temperatures. Speaking of temperatures, the ROG STRIX 2080 Ti never hit 60C while gaming for over an hour straight on OC mode. This card gives you flagship performance, cooling and features. Having customizable RGB lighting with the ASUS Aura Sync application and dual BIOS modes will allow enthusiasts to fine tune this card for their personal needs. That is a nice touch as its all about the user experience these days. This is why board partners continue to make custom boards for the gaming market despite NVIDIA continuing to press into the AIB market with the Founders Edition sereis.
When it comes to overclocking the ASUS ROG STRIX Gaming GeForce 2080 Ti also didn’t disappoint. This card comes with a rated 1650 MHz boost clock on the NVIDIA Turing GPU, but with a little overclocking we were able to raise that up to 1825 MHz with our +175 core overclock. We also raised the memory the memory clock speed from 14 Gbps to 16 Gbps and by overclocking both the GPU and GDDR6 memory we were seeing over 10% performance gains on real game titles. That is super impressive considering the RTX 2080 Ti already blows everything out of the water.
Where can you buy the ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti? That is a really good question as these cards are super hard to come by and we haven’t seen them listed on Amazon or Newegg just yet. When it does fully become available it will be for $1249.99 and that is an awful lot of money. It’s $50 more than the 2080 Ti Founders Edition card, but has better performance, improved cooling performance, less noise and the ability to be overclocked higher. Add in ASUS’ design and RGB lighting and it seems like it would be worth an extra $50 if someone is already comfortable spending $1200 for a 2080 Ti.
Legit Bottom Line: The ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080 Ti OC Edition is a beast, but you get what you pay for!
