ASUS Releases the RS724Q-E6/RS12 High Performance 2U Intel Server

By

ASUS recently announced the launch of the RS724Q-E6/RS12, its latest flagship server based on Intel 6-core and 4-core 5500/5600 processors. It features a four-node system in a 2U chassis with 12 DIMM slots per node, offering diverse functionality, high efficiency redundant power supplies, hot swap maintenance, remote management and easy upgradability. This means that this one 2U server can hold eight 6-core processors and 48 memory modules for a grand total of 48 physical CPU cores and 384GB of memory if you populated it with the best of everything! Now that is what I call a proper 2U server! More pictures of the server can be seen by following the link below to the forums.

ASUS RS724Q-E6 Server

Leveraging the power of new Intel 5500/5600 series processors, the RS724Q-E6/RS12 is equipped with 4 independent hot-pluggable nodes in a 2U chassis; each node supports 6-core and 4-core CPUs plus 12 DIMM slots with up to 96GB of memory. It delivers enhanced high density performance in a compact four-node 2U configuration, totaling 48 computing cores and 48 DIMM slots. The RS724Q-E6/RS12 ships with twin 1,600W 80Plus Platinum level high efficiency redundant power supplies, averaging 88% power efficiency under load. This ample power supply offers the stability and reliability for mission critical enterprise applications and high performance computing (HPC). Up to 1,600W of power is available in 2+0 mode, catering to more conservation-minded enterprises who wish to optimize their energy signature. Automatic load balancing also allows the two power supplies to share workloads for maximized efficiency and stability.
