ASUS Rampage V Extreme Motherboard Review – Intel X99
System Power Consumption
The ASUS Rampage V Extreme is pretty much on par with the other Intel X99 platforms when it comes to power consumption. Sitting at idle, the RVE was pulling only 74 Watts at the wall. The ASUS X99A was a touch lower at 71 Watts, but the others were at 75 Watts. Bumping up the CPU load with AIDA64, the ASUS Rampage V Extreme was right in the range of the other X99 boards with 195 Watts under a full load. The other Intel X99 boards were ranging from 177 Watts to 204 Watts at the wall, it’s a bit of a wide range. When firing up 3DMark Firestrike, the range between the Intel X99 motherboard closed up pretty tight. The ASUS Rampage V Extreme was the most power hungry with 258 Watts at the wall, the Intel X99 motherboard with the lowest power draw was the ASUS X99A with only 253 Watts at the wall. A difference of only 5Watts between the boards is pretty close.
