ASUS Radeon HD 6870 Video Card Review
ASUS Radeon HD 6870 Video Card Final Thoughts
With killer looks and performance to match the ASUS Radeon HD 6870 at $199.99 shipped with a 3 year warranty fits right in there with the rest of the cards in its class. With features such as the Direct CU cooling system and the ability to bump up the voltage the Smart Doctor it seems like you can’t go wrong with the ASUS Radeon HD 6870. It did perform well in all of our benchmarks and tests we were able to overclock this bad boy to 1GHz without any problem, and I am sure we will be able to go even higher once we can adjust the voltage.
The style of this card is great; I love the black custom PCB that you can see here in the picture below. If you have a black motherboard as well as other black components you will be really pleased to have this video card in your system. I know it made my test system look even meaner than it did before.
I was really pleased with the performance of the ASUS EAH6870 DC/2DI2S/1GD5 Video Card Compared to the Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 Toxic Video Card. When it comes to a comparison of performance for the value the ASUS EAH6870 DC/2DI2S/1GD5 comes out on top, because not only did it perform better, but at a price like $199.99 shipped it is only around $7.00 more than the Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 Toxic Graphics Card after paying shipping which comes in at $184.99 plus $7.87 shipping.
One of the downfalls of this card is the size. The size of this card is a bit on the large size, coming in at exactly 11″ long and 5″ tall, so it may not fit in all of the cases out there today. I used the card in an NZXT Phantom and I had plenty of room to spare, but for those you who have size restraints this is probably not the card for you. The fan is nice and quiet until you get up into the 50% range then it can get really loud, especially at 100%. But one good thing is that it didn’t even come close to either of those at a full load.
The Legit Bottom Line: A good card at a good price. Not only does it perform killer, it looks killer. So if performance and looks are equally important to you, you will really like the ASUS Radeon HD 6870.
